Monkeys are organisms belonging to the main animal species of the tail, characterized by a narrow bone structure of the chest, short face and flat without large protrusion (except for baboons), and monkeys need a tropical environment to live، The vast majority are found in tropical forests, moving from place to place to look for food.

Capuchin monkey:

It's a New World ape, living in trees, this monkey sleeps all night and is active during the day, as seen in white or cream and dark-coloured limbs, and has black fur on top of its head.

 Monkey food :

Monkeys in the food chain are classified as omnivorous primates, that is, they depend on plants and meat for their diet, and this may change depending on where they live and what sources of food are available، Monkeys mainly feed on fruits, seeds, flowers, some types of nuts (as a staple food), along with bird eggs, and some organisms, such as lizards, spiders, and insects.

It should be noted that the prairie monkeys eat bananas, but it is considered unwanted eating, as it was banned in a zoo in England, because it may cause problems for monkeys in the teeth، It also causes obesity, her diabetes, and it is worth noting that monkeys may take a long time to look for their food.

 Reproduction in monkeys:

Monkeys reproduce sexually, a female monkey gives birth to her baby 160 days after conception, gives birth to one baby every two years, there is no set time for monkeys to mate, it depends on the presence of shelter and food، In the absence of food and housing, monkeys stop mating. The baby monkey relies on breastfeeding from the mother as its main source of food, and few monkeys mate during the first years of their lives, while the majority mate is 4-8 years old، It should be noted that females are sexually mature and are able to mate about one year earlier than a male. Some types of monkeys do not mate for long periods, so there is no sexual contact that leads to reproduction, or sexual communication may be limited to the period of estrus (ovulation)، This behaviour along with apes' dependence on food and housing may be a reason why their numbers aren't so great, but there are other species that mate throughout the year.

The Life Stages of Monkeys :

Apes have a life cycle that includes many changes, and the life cycle of apes varies depending on the species, and the stages of life of monkeys:

Prenatal stage :

The stage of pregnancy; this stage lasts about 5.5 months, and at this stage, the health of the fetal monkey is related to the health of the mother، Stress and poor health have caused problems in young people's health, such as birth defects or behavioral abnormalities. This stage is similar to human formation, as the monkey embryo grows in the female uterus, during which the body's organs, including the head, arms, legs, and the rest of the body, form.

Childhood stage :

This stage extends from birth to the second year, and is characterized by several characteristics, after the first hour of birth, the baby monkey begins to breastfeed, and at the age of two weeks begins to eat solid food، When the monkey reaches the age of one and a half months, it begins to move and explore independently of the mother.

The baby monkey's weight begins to increase to about 0.65 kg a month after birth, and continues to grow to 1 kg at the age of 5 months، When he reaches 4-8 months he gradually weans. By reaching the first year small monkey, its average weight reaches about 1.3 kg, and then begins to wean the whole food, and the young person remains until the age of one and a half years close to the mother until she gives birth to another monkey، At this stage, the monkey develops social and behavioral skills that are directly related to sex, as a form of preparation to prepare for later mating.

 Adolescence :

Sexual maturation extends from 3 to 7 years of age, in which monkeys have attained sexual maturity, as a result of which several changes occur in hormones and characteristics of sexual behavior، It is at this stage that the 26-29 day estrus cycle begins, and from 3-4 years of age females are able to reproduce, but males need more time to be able to reproduce.

 Adulthood:

This stage begins after the age of eight years, and the male reaches the full size that qualifies him to reproduce, and begins at this age the season of marriage for both sexes fully.

 The ageing stage:

This stage stretches from 15 years and beyond, and geriatrics rarely appear in wild populations, but captive and garden-based monkeys are more vulnerable to the threat of disease، The most important diseases affecting monkeys at this stage; cancer, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, atherosclerosis, gum disease, and cataracts.

 Average age of monkeys:

The average length of a monkey's life varies with the species, diet and presence of ape-fed predators, and wild monkeys often die before they reach old age، They only reach adulthood, monkeys in captivity may be longer, they may reach 20s and sometimes 30s and they are healthy.

How much sleep does a monkey need:

Monkeys sleep between 9-17 hours per day, and this varies depending on the monkey breed.

Monkey adaptation methods:

Here's an illustration of some ways apes adapt to their surroundings:

Due to their large monkey mass, they have long arms and short legs to help reduce pressure on their bones and joints.

Monkeys have an opposite thumb on both feet, helping them safely hold their babies and small objects.

Some monkeys have large muscles that help them climb.

The monkey's eyes contain conical cells that help it see in full color.

The benefits of the monkey on man

Here are some of the most notable benefits of the monkey on a human:

Tens of thousands of monkeys are used in research and testing, including to develop and test the effectiveness of human medicines and vaccines.

Monkeys are also used to study how the brain works, as well as research on human reproduction.

Monkeys form complex social relationships, and they experience emotions in a manner similar to that of humans.

Other facts about the monkey:

Here are some other facts about monkeys:

1 There is only one species of wild monkey, the Barbary macaques, found in Europe.

2. Marmosets is the smallest monkey species in the world, weighing only 141 grams, and the largest is the mandrel monkey, weighing up to 36 kg.

3-New World monkeys have tails that help them catch and keep things, but Old World monkeys don't.

4. Monkeys spend 70-80% of their days searching for food.

5-Monkeys were the ancient Egyptian god of learning.

6. Some types of monkeys have specialized stomachs containing chemicals that help them break down immature foods.

7 Some species of monkeys live on land, others on trees.

8. Capuchin monkeys are believed to be the smartest species in the world; as they learn new skills, use tools, and show many signs of self-awareness.

9- Currently there are approximately 264 species of monkeys.
